Sticky Wicket

This is probably good. I haven't tried to coach a baseball team in Queens, but my guess is that it's not normal for Pakistani immigrants to try out, and that these kids can be sometime excluded from the broader culture of their schools, so it's good that they're playing a sport and that it's vaguely like baseball. This also reminds me of something I meant to write about how we are screwed in Pakistan (this was before the Bhutto assassination, which made things there look particularly bad for awhile--now they look somewhat OK, but very much up in the air). My conclusion was going to be that our best foreign policy move in Pakistan could be to send a team of ex-major leaguers who are not complete assholes (headed by Cal Ripken, Jr.) there to play some exhibition cricket. Some State Department functionary should at least be considering this.
