Malamud gets some press. With the current climate being favorable to free content and having some heavy hitters like Google finally doing some lobbying for looser copyright restrictions, it looks like Malamud's effort to offer free law might be one that finally works. (Though I don't know if he's helping himself with his seal logo, Legoman dramas, or other Schoolhouse Rock-looking characters.)
He definitely cares about this stuff. He was the only speaker at this year's AALL conference who didn't put me to sleep, and he was even more excited about his project when I asked him about it at a party.
I thought, though, that it was pretty obvious that states lost the ability to claim copyright for their laws years ago. Isn't this a democracy?
